SPECTROSCOPE
- Illustrates the dispersion of light
- Teaches the nature of continuous and spectral line sources
- Shows the basic characteristics of prisms and gratings
- Vernier for angle measurement
The Spectroscope consists of a sturdy cast-iron base with collimator tube support and a swinging telescope arm. The graduated circle is 15 cm in diameter; large enough to make the scale open and easy to read, even by an inexperienced student. Two Verniers, 180° apart, read the graduated scale. When the prism table is locked in place, a fine pitch tangent provides precise adjustment to the rotation of the table.
The Small Mercury Arc Lamp TEL-ES1801 is a good source of monochromatic radiation for use with the Spectroscope. |
The prism table is 8 cm in diameter. Spring-loading screws connect two sections to permit complete adjustment in both height and tilt. The table is marked with concentric circles to aid in centering a prism or grating.
The Spectroscope is supplied with a Crown Glass Prism and a 700 lines/mm holographic grating as well as an operating manual. The TEL-ES1801 Monochromatic Light Source is recommended. .
